it's about time I write something new!

Well been super busy last two months, although that doesn't make up for me not putting updates since February. Recently trying to work on a state website, but not gotten too far with that yet. I'd like to start a CPG library for sharing amongst chapters in the near future.
I enjoyed a visit to the Phil-NY chapter last month on a very hot day with IDVP Mel - it was a great energetic group with a lot of spirit.
I've been working with a few people from my home chapter in Johnson City, and trying to build the chapter back together after some tough downfalls. We don't want to see the chapter disappear and could use help from anyone out there willing to help.

Looking forward to some great upcoming projects through the rest of July, August and September. If your chapter is hosting a project let me know and I'll try to come up and visit!

the year begins...

Well I was officially sworn into the office of Business Vice Presidnet on Saturday January 24th in Syracuse. It was another exciting convention - with many awards won by both the Philippine-NY chatper and the Batavia Area Jaycees. Congratualations to all who received awards!

I was awarded my Governorship by my chapter - I was definitely surprised when Tom and Pat got up to announce the award.

The New York Jaycees voted to take on the name JCI NY!

Last week I had the chance to attend the Southern Tier Young Professionals meeting where Rebecca Sherriff was elected President! I was given the chance to speak to them about JCI and the opportunites out there for them. Then I also presented an award recognizing them as a Local Young Professionals Organization by JCI NY.

Finally, this past weekend I was invited up to the JCI Saratoga Springs Installation Dinner and Outstanding Saratogian Award presentation. It was a great event, as we dined in member Dave Miranda's restaurant on Rte 9 in Saratoga. The Friends and Family of Ballston Spa representative Shannon was at the meeting to receive an award for the building of an outstanding playground back in May 2008! Looks like it took a lot of team work and muscles!
Ed Cady made his final remarks as chapter president and then the 2009 President Kathy Lanfear and her board of directors were sworn in! Congratulations and great work JCI Saratoga Springs.

I battled through the snow after the dinner and made it home by 1AM to get some sleep before having several people over for the Superbowl on Sunday.

It's been a great January... and now we dive into February - hopefully I'll remember to get on here and make more notes more often (like Region Central Director Mark!)

January 2009

The business area of opportunity fits into the mission statement of the Junior Chamber International (JCI):

the economic infrastructure, prosperity and well-being of all nations.

At the January 23-25th, 2009 convention you can find out more about programs being run in the businesss area that can advance your chapter to become a Blue Chip Award winning chapter and to be 100% Efficient. You can also find out about programs that will help you advance yourself as an individiual!

I Hope to see you all there!
